transit modes around the Susie-Q

by njtmnrrbuff ¦  Sat Oct 02, 2004 12:51 pm ¦  Forum: New Jersey Transit NJT Rail and Light Rail LRT ¦  Topic: Lackawanna Cutoff Passenger Service Restoration ¦  Replies: 6083 ¦  Views: 1525696

The bus service along the Route 23 corridor is quite good. I haven't really looked at the schedules carefully. Other transit modes closer to that corridor really depend on where you want to go. For someone that lives along 23 like around Franklin, If they want rail service, then Dover would be close...

I could definately understand your complaints. Yes, transit really needs to get their communication better at Secaucus. I really don't trust that place whenever I head anywhere in Jersey or west of hudson. The signs can be weird.NWK Broad St is okay at night but yes, you do have to watch your back t...

Broad St

by njtmnrrbuff ¦  Fri Oct 01, 2004 9:48 pm ¦  Forum: New Jersey Transit NJT Rail and Light Rail LRT ¦  Topic: Newark Broad Street track/platform realignment ¦  Replies: 909 ¦  Views: 146680

I think it is a very good idea to install three high level platforms at NWK Broad St. Here are the benefits. Express trains heading to Dover via the M&E could stop on the middle track without having to cross over. Bascically, it can just accelerate quickly three trains could serve the station at...

NJCL equipment compared to MBL

Being a veteran of the NJCL even though I live in Upper Montclair, I know for a fact that locomotive hauled sets especially 44s really perform well on the NJCL, in fact on the entire NWK division. In Montclair, the distance between stops pretty much is the rapid transit frame of mind. My friend was ...

Freehold

If MOM happens and it serves Freehold, which I am confident it will, Freehold will be a good station to serve. In fact, since the current station is a bus terminal, they could have an intermodel transit center just like Asbury Pk with a high level platform. The only thing is where to build the new f...

I do believe that when the Keystone Corridor is rehabilitated, all trains ending in Harrisburg will have them. I think it is a very good idea. For one thing, the dwell time in Philly will reduce and you don't need to have engines run around the entire consist especially if a genny is on the point. A...

Sorry if I ran a "stop signal." I did not think too hard. This will be the last time it happens.

Greenport and Montauk

I can understand what you are saying. However, pretty much, the eastern end of Long Island is typically meant for tourists, not year round people. The Upper Harlem on the other hand, the area around it is becoming slowly populated. Also, Wassaic is closer to the city than much of the places on easte...

Albany railfanning

It all depends whether you are into passenger, freight, or both. For passenger, the Amtrak station in Rennselaer is a great place to photograph. There are many public areas to view including the little road bridge(good views of southbounds, for northbounds, the station going over the tracks can bloc...

turboliner and NY Dots job.

The turboliners were okay. They has better acceleration then a genesis although, the stops on the Empire Corridor are not as close to one another as the Keystone. If anything needs to be fixed, then that has to be done. The main issue that really irks me is the fact that NY DOT should have rehabilit...

railfanning situations along transit.

That is amazing. Like even this summer, when I photographed with the permit while riding the PVL to the end and in Suffern, no one questioned me. In fact, Suffern is a great place to railfan. The station is transit property but MN has its markings there on the station like the canopies and the same ...

Woodbury Commons Station

On Sunday, Mercy College where I attend, will be sponsoring a trip up to Woodbury Commons. Now I know, the Port Jervis Line runs like in back of the shopping center. Are there any good areas on the premise of the mall where I could get good shots?

railfanning situations along transit.

How is the railfanning going along transit? Are the cops more tolerant toward railfans? Last month, I went out to High Bridge and I had my camera. No problems at all. In fact, this was my last mileage along transit.

Rye

Yes, I could understand why Rye could be a good place for an Amtrak stop. Yes, the stations location is literally right by the I-287 and 95 interchange. However, unlike New Rochelle, I don't think it would make a cut for Amtrak service stopping. Even New Roc, the Amtrak servicing the station there i...

Comet 1Bs

Does anyone know when the Comet 1Bs will be retired? When I come back home to Jersey over thanksgiving, I plan to railfan along transit and I will be on the lookout for them. Oh, I am new to posting messages on this site. I've ridden the entire transit system. If I should point out, I know this is a...
