Matt - thats exactly right. The Amfleet II cafe car's overall feel and food are such a disappointment. I am rarely on the LSL for dinner, but anytime I do now I'll be missing the steak too!

Came into Chicago on 49 this morning ( 15 min early, in fact! ) and passed at least 4 of the Heritage Diners parked near the locomotive shop. The pinch hitting "diner cars" are really hideous and I feel bad for the employees who are constantly having to defend themselves to customers and e...
Nice to see some real manufacturing locating here, hopefully it sticks around:

It is gone, torn down, and much of the wood salvaged. The trusses are owned by a company in Buffalo ( the one that put up the ad ) and the vast majority of the other wood was purchased by Pioneer Millworks in Farmington, NY.
Been a couple years since this thread was active! I drove by the base entrance just east of the Anderson's shop, didn't look like there was anything siting right outside the doors. I have to assume that FGLK is moving cars in and out of there on a somewhat regular basis to justify the existence of t...
Why is Camera more concern about that than the on-going violence in town lately? - couple murders, missing persons, rape (I think they had big news about that) and recently 50 some kids were fighting in town)... Geneva is really ugly town. only thing is beauty is the park along the lake. The track ...
Does anyone know for certain if demolition has been started?
A friend of mine took photos in March, the rails have been pulled up from Loree Rd north to Bellona Station Rd: https://scontent-lga1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtf1/v/t1.0-9/10390110_10204590407735519_4381519410496111800_n.jpg?oh=d8d9c2c3c7a0021d92b9daa251dbd319&oe=565C32D5 I always wondered the sa...
I am going to be in the New Albany, IN area next week, wanted to see if anyone knows of whats good to catch in terms of railfanning? Especially wondering if anything is running on the old Monon through New Albany; last I heard there was just a local coming across the river to service the Pillsbury p...
I take the 280 & 283 back & forth from Syracuse to NYC every other week, and I have noticed what looks like a wye or maybe what used to be a turning track that goes off to the West just to the north of Penn Station and where NJT comes in from underneath. There's never been anything on the tr...
Poppyl - Is that northbound that is coming through at that time? Been hearing them in Geneva late in the evening, but I may also be hearing FGLK coming in from Syracuse with the SD's too.
It was quite steep..but! as a short industrial spur, it was never intended to handle entire trains, so the steepness wasnt a major concern when you are only hauling one or two cars up and down it, with one locomotive.. from an older discussion about Geneva: http://scotlawrence.smugmug.com/photos/i-...
Not sure why, but the SD's have ben split up, one of them has been matched up with 1701 for a little while now. The pair was sitting this weekend in front of the old LV freight house.
For anyone else following the thread, I managed to come up with a couple of photos on a Facebook group. Here's the Agway building in the early 2000's, I think by this point it was only being used as a weigh station for trucks, if at all: https://scontent-b-lga.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/t1.0-9/379335...
Seems like I dig this thread up every few years! I remember seeing an arial photo of Holcomb in a restaurant down there, and I also have some recollection of where the sidings likely were. Does anyone know where I could find a more detailed map of the village in terms of where the tracks were in the...
