Looks like they fixed the B&M font as well. According to reports the 382 is currently in the booth

When the business cars got repainted did they lose their names. I know one was called "Northpoint" while in grs livery. Now in the PAR scheme i can't find any name ???

Just wondering, which car was "Northpoint," and what was the name of the other?

The observation car 100 never had a name, even when it was a D&H car. The other car 101 was named "Northpoint" after Pan Am's big real estate project in Boston. We all know how that turned out, and, like many other things in Guilford's history, I think Pan Am would prefer to forget about it. Neither car now has a name. IMHO, both cars are now much more handsome than they were with that oversize "Guilford Rail System" on the side.

Thanks for the explanation Bill!

I have to agree I like the cars much better now. Especially with the black underbody. I still can't figure out why the 326 didn't get the black underbody???

I cought the MEC 350 in Rumsford with the new paint afew weeks ago, switching some hoppers cars. On this nice fall day, I was on my way to Paris. Pan Am used to go all the way to Paris too, the one if France I mean.

...liked the American Flag on the long hood. The new paint looks spartan but fresh anyway.

Looks like the 382 is out and about. CN9634 if your still in Orono, be on the lookout, it should be up your way soon!

So it is now in PAR paint???

Well, that seemed to be what was going on. However I'm am not sure, there was no visual conformation!

Here's the "new and improved" 382!

They even kept the NS numberboards. Not surprising, considering that they'd see no point in spending money on new ones, but still, I think that font looks cool.

It was in there a while wonder if they did some major work on it *Gasp!*

Looks good none the less! I wonder if they kept the Flashing ditch lights and I also wonder what the horn sounds like ;)

EDIT: Note the unit has gained an old crappy plow!

The horn is a Leslie RS5T, so in theory it should sound awesome... but that theory only applies if the horn is functioning properly and isn't filled with soot and debris. So we'll have to wait to find out whether it sounds good or not.

Yes, they are very similar!

However, FEC has the brains to paint the underbody of their locomotives black. The all dip blue locomotive looks, hmm, strange? something isnt right about it...

The plow is a good thing. The "pilots" like the GP35's had/have are prone to catching on frogs on some of the miraculous branch/yard trackage. The plows don't have that problem and are better with snow obviously.

I like the solid white reflective strip on the frame of the FEC units. I think it looks better than the small strips of tape on the Pan Am units. But, again, Pan Am's choice is not surprising. It all boils down to cost. I don't know how much 3M Scotchlite tape costs (I assume that's what they use), but I'm sure they only use the small strips because that's the bare minimum they're allowed to get away with under FRA rules. A solid strip from end to end would just look so much nicer.

A black fuel tank and silver trucks would look fantastic, but I suppose I shouldn't get carried away.
