The weather people are saying we could be due here in Bergen county for quite a storm Monday into Tuesday. I've heard anywhere from 3-5. to 1-2 feet. Which probably means it will rain all day. But, if let's just say we get the apocalyptic end of that scale: 2 feet of snow. How does the railroad hand...
Yeah, I was back there this morning and the doors were closed (I made sure to look) but when I left work, I went back to see if the doors were open, and they were. All I could see in there were a couple cars. No locos, not even MOW equipment. Don't know. I swear I thought it was an RS; and I got a f...
This might seem kinda weird... but as I was sitting on the 1173 tonight pulling out of Hoboken yard, I thought I saw something and I was wondering if maybe someone could support my hypothesis, or if maybe I'm cracking up. My train left from Track 15, so we were all the way over towards the light rai...
Nice to see the boys are supporting the local economy by stopping at garage sales on their way down Schuyler St.
(by the way I'm voting cat tower)
How serious is the push for restoration of passenger service on the NYSW - see the website at nyswpassengerrail.blogspot.com. Is there legitimate momentum or is this just a small group making noise over something that isn't going to happen? I recently bought Edward Kaminski's book on Maywood NJ (pub...
My guess is it was the 2014 Toys for Tots Train with one of the NYS&W's leased CSX GPs in front. A PRR baggage car, a NYC Pullman, and something else which escapes me right now. I saw the cars in the Ridgefield Park yard last night; never saw them coupled to a locomotive. But CSX 2732 and 2782 a...
The 2014 Toys for Tots train was in the NYSW yard in Ridgefield Park tonight when I passed by on the way home from work. The PRR baggage car and the Pullman were visible but the 3rd car was hidden behind the boxcars and could not be seen.
Wow, that was pretty detailed. Very interesting. This area really has changed quite a bit more than I could have realized. Thanks for posting that link.
Hi all - Who used to operate the old tracks that can still be seen on the old docks on the Hudson between 12th and 14th streets in Hoboken, and then the ones on the *really* crumbling old dock just north of 15th street? There are both train tracks and what appear to be rails for a gantry. Then down ...
Hi all - I am looking to custom-letter some undecorated rolling stock (HO scale). I was wondering if anyone has a recommended vendor for custom-made decals. I am also not averse to making the decals myself, I just want them to look decent and last fairly long when I'm done. I'm thinking one color ar...
Was there ever any company that made ALCO FAs in L&NE paint? I've seen LNE rolling stock and maybe an occasional steam loco, but never any FAs. The only ones I've seen have been custom paint jobs. Too much of a niche thing for mass production, I guess?
Great shots, thanks for sharing. Love the one of M&E 19 waiting at the red light.
Yeah that link was very confusing in terms of what customers were still active. I have my doubts there is anything active north of Englewood these days. The tracks on the north end of Englewood are in dreadful shape.
Looking at this link -- http://www.wislew.com/nbexploreengle2.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; -- this is what I remember. These leased locomotives were what I usually saw, which is probably why I couldn't remember them. The HLCX loco actually specifically strikes a chord...
