the paint and labor on 21 was supplied by the volunteer staff of the Whippany Railway Museum for the WRyM Caboose Rides.

They did a fine job.

Is the same group working on the 70T unit also?

Yes, the Whippany Railway Museum is also the same group restoring the former Rahway Valley RR 70-Tonner. Current plans call for only a cosmetic restoration only. The unit needs a lot of mechanical work if it is ever to run again but would be even more economical to run than the RS-1.

The Rahway Valley has been scraped, sanded and primed by a few hard working WRyM volunteers.......repainting should start in September and if the weather holds, she should be completed by early / mid October.

Any help with donations and or labor assistance is always a huge help to make these repairs a reality.

visit the WRyM web site www.whippanyrailwaymuseum.org for more information.

Sunday 9-18: Outside at Morristown: 18, 20, 21, 291
Whippany Caboose Trains: 7215

RVRR unit painted red with yellow striping. Not colors I remember growing up, unless this is an as delivered scheme- before my time. First pictures I took were in 1976 at the age of 9.

RV 16 was delivered in the red scheme 17 in the green. They remained that way and were known as 'the red one and the green one' into the mid to late 70's when Bernie Cahill became president & GM. He had them painted into the LV red along with the office car.

7215 on the caboose trains - hmm - was wondering since 21 is shoved into the back of track 4 at Morristown. Did she finally succumb to her ailments - anyone know what happened?

I believe it is shot! The cosmetic shell is still on display at the Madison team track with the DL&W baggage car just east of the Station.......

The paint job on the RV unit looks great. Bright red, carefully delineated striping, fine work on the trim.

Parked at Whippany.

What's the story on the Erie Proving Ground unit also at Whippany?

The Plymouth is owned by the Military Transport Association of North Jersey. Also, the different names on the sides of the cab are where the engine started it's career and ended it's career. for the past couple of months it was used as the M&E shop switcher, until the MTA repainted it. It generally runs a few hundred yards, back and fourth, during the days that Whippany runs it's caboose trips.

Here's some info at the MTA's website:http://www.mtaofnj.org/mta_train_engine.htm

Also, RV 17 is at Morristown waiting to be delivered to the Museum, as soon as the minor problem with the brakes are fixed.

Saw the 18 and 19 today (10/2) coming up it looked like the Center St. Branch at Cape interlocking

I dunno if its unrelated or not, but the three MN ex- Pheobie Snow business cars are parked in Hudson yard tonight. It was a nice site to see! They do look sharp!
