Pretty sure I may have seen 4103 on a train. 4105 on the offhand is also still running in switcher service last I saw, it was putting together the set that now has the 4212 on it. I find it unusual that the three CNJs were pulled from service, I hope theyll be ok.

Bit off topic, but i passed the MMC earlier and it looked like 4113 was on or something.. Couldnt see perfectly clear, but it looked like smoke was coming from the top of it, anyone know what was going on?

Maybe NJT decided to use it since they are probably still short of power(possibly for standby?).... Things can change from day to day over there!!

Maybe it was the 4110? That is being used at the MMC for testing.

Was the 4110 next to the 4113 at any point in such a way where 4113 wouldve obscured the 4110 from view on the M@E side yesterday evening? Because I know i was looking at the 4113. I passed by 3 times in the space of about 90 minutes yesterday (dont ask.. Long story), so i had plenty of clarification as to which engine it seemed to be coming from. 4113 seemed to be coupled up to an ALP45 for some reason. The time of my passing when i specifically saw the smoke was on train #657.

4113 is used to keep thec string of ALP45's alive as they wait their turn for Sandy repairs.

Hmm.. Ok so i wasnt seeing things. When you say keep them alive what do you mean? Im confused as to how what systems would need to be kept alive. Also. Do you have road numbers for the 45s its helping out? Is it the entire string or just that one?

Probably air most likely. Anything off air for more than 4 hours needs to be retested. If they are moving them over the road and back frequently this could be why, but just my guess there. They could be using the HEP to keep the batterys tended too as well.

Air and HEP to keep the engines warm, or something like that. Bombardier requires it so they can work on the units out in the yard.

That equipment sits in Hoboken for most of the day with a fuel move at some point. If all goes to plan, and the engine isn't cut from the consist during the day, it would be on the 7:20 PM departure to Spring Valley.
