9321 will be , and I quote, "Retired"

and just how are they gonna get the "tires" on it?

They going to leave the body of the 9321 up on blocks along Otto rd. for a few years after? You know, with a few appliances and the like around it? Gee-olly!

Maybe they outta send it to Medford to keep the truckless 201 company...

A couple of NY&A loco questions
Scrap em Again wrote: 101 - Up

106 - Up
Have these been updated to the more recent green/black paint scheme?
Scrap em Again wrote: 9321 - Down, Lubrication system problems
9373 - Up
201- Scrapped 2004
I don't think I've seen these, what type of locos are/were these?

No paint on the 1001's.
9321 and 9373 are SW1200s. 201 is a GP10 that took a dump 3 years ago, sat in Pine Aire for a few months, dragged to Medford where she still sits...with no trucks.

Cool, thanks for the info.

For the 1001s and 1002s, are they the original NY&A green? Anyone got pics?

Where did the 1002s come from?

SW1200s- come from. Louisville & Indiana- both origin from Conrail "crap"
SW1001s- Ex-Long Island

How's the fleet holding up?

These engines have to be working a lot harder now than they were 10 years ago. In the mid-90s, I remember seeing Conrail bringing in 20-car transfer runs. With CSX bringing in massive trains 6 days a week (whenever I see them, they're 60-80 cars), plus D&H and P&W bringing in rock, I'm surprised that pretty much no "new" power has made it onto the island.

Nice repaint job on the 268. Which engine is next? I guess this railroad just dosent have a further need for extra engines even when the Calverton spur re-opens. 9321 left the NYA or something?

A question asked out of curiosity... With the Brookhaven and the Calverton operations in the NY & A's future, if the NY & A wanted to bring in additional power for these would the NY & A need the blessings of the LIRR before they could bring in any new units such as say a GP40-2/slug set or SD40-2's.

NY&As too broke to get "new power", can barley maintain what they have.( from a shop guy my friend knows)
I think a topic was brought up on 6 axle pwr not being allowed on the LIRR im not sure..

How would you know? You're just a kid who stands at Queens Villiage/Bellrose moving his arm up and down at trains to try an get em to blow their horns as if they were trucks.

All I asked was IF, the NY&A wanted to bring in any additional power (GP40-2/slug set, SD40-2, C40-8, B40-8, Genset whatever) other than say, more used LIRR MP15AC's, does the LIRR have final say over what can be used by the NY&A?
