HRRC seems to run on the "Guilford" business model, defer maintance till train derails, little customer service, find ways to irratate neghboring RR's(MNR and P+W),and make promises with no intention to fulfill them. Believe most of HRRC's mangement team came from Guilford's former mangemen...

You ain't the only one.
I would love to see the Midland (The old New Haven from Hartford to Willimantic) back as a railroad, with a trail next to it!! The line is active to Manchester...

I agree somewhat as the Armory branch only received a small section of new ties that did go in but that line is in terrible shape for the most part. It could use new ties the whole line and CNZR could sure use a boost in the arm for his portion to the north. In Hazardville they paved over the ROW a...

I take the Acela through New London about once a month and have noticed an uptick in the amount of rebar imports coming into the state pier. Today a PW local was sitting on the NEC near the switch that leads into the port. The train included at least 7 gons. Are these things related -- is the P&...

I hope that the old Stone Container will be used and I hope to see more businesses around Portland. On my model Railroad (the Hop River) I have a brownstone mine, Cobalt boats (a dinghy company in Cobalt, CT) and 3 business in Hebron/Colchester, along with Stone Container and the industrial Park in ...

The thread on the Herbert Matter logo got me to thinking something: how many different paint schemes did the New Haven have? I count at least 10: dark green with no herald (EP3 as delivered), dark green with script herald and one gold stripe (EP4), dark green with several gold stripes (DL109 etc.),...

I'm glad that a new Railroad is built on a rail-trail. I hope more rail-trails will become railroads again.

I just came across this 2005 post by ehb: "The shortest short line in New England was actually the Warwick Railway at .9 miles, Moshassuck Valley was a whopping 1.8, and Fore River is about 2 miles." But here's another contender: the Van Buren Bridge Railroad in northern Maine. Although t...

Too much for my blood, but what a cool idea. http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/33-Brook-Rd_Cornwall_CT_06754_M40998-25547 I've always had a dream of doing this to the former depot/station in Plainfield, Conn., along the P&W. That one just makes me sad. Nice!1 I would love to stra...

What is wrong with Housy's Management nowadays?? I used to think that it was a well run railroad in 2005 when I left Connecticut. What happened?? Did the economy and CT politics caused HRR to not be as successful as before?

BTW, first Post!! I like reading this forum.
