Annandale is my favorite place to park because it is free. Naturally I get there early. Jersey Central trains used to run fairly empty through P'burg. Ditto for NJ Transit trains.

Thanks for the answers to my questions. I worked second trick, and don't remember much about Rader. However I used to see Joe Spranger, Jr. and Kenny Spranager going by on cabooses, on a frequent basis. Joe Spranger, Sr. was a conductor too; but I didn't see him, working second trick at G.
Anybody know who the crew was? Did Conrail discontinue the Warwick trains then and there? For the record, G tower closed in '72, about four years before the Conrail take over.

I got this time table after I went to G tower in 1960. This is to fill in what is crossed out on page 4. Pequest, 112 cars Andover 1, 70 cars Sparta 1, 68 cars, 103 penciled in. Vernon, DX, RN Chester, DX, K Maybrook, D, BK Thanks to Mike Roque for enabling me to post this PDF scan. Philip Martin
Thanks. The railroad has changed since the Pennsy days.
The Suskie had a tunnel through Bergen Hill to Edgewater, for freight. I wonder if this trolley line ran between the two Susquehanna points? Thanks for the good trolley photo, which I am keeping. What did it need such a big headlight for?
Where is this Tropicana spot that you are talking about? Tropicana used to be in the Meadows Yard, near where the MMC is now.
Latest delay: No. 4616 waiting at Hammonton for a bus connection which is currently lost.
One of my customers had to ride three trains to get from Morristown to New York yesterday; and each train broke down. The last one broke down under the river. He is now a pen pall with NJT.

Here's a link that tells you a little about Bober. It's got a picture of him in 1983 with a police dog. Put the curser on the image and the caption comes up. I'm not positive he came from Conrail. The ban on photography must have come from people higher up than him. http://enroute.njtransit.com/corp...
Bober came from the Conrail police. All this animosity to him on this blog surprises me. I haven't had any problems, to speak of, with the Transit police. Were going by what the Newspaper says, which can be misleading, and by what some jury found. Remember the OJ jury? "Frizalone, the first to ...
Rahway tower was a CNJ tower in Carteret on the route between E'port and Perth Amboy. Huey Devenny was a new operator, and they told him to post Rahway tower; so he went to the tower in Rahway, Union tower, (on the Pennsy,) and posted there for a few hours before he figured out that something was wr...
The late Benny Eckman was a fast engineer on the Coast Line. I think he was running the trains the times I saw fire coming off all the wheels, coming into Red Bank. One day, he was running a westbound passenger train at Red Bank, and I had him lined into the yard, by mistake, misroute. He took the s...
Eastbound trains coming into Red Bank. Let me change "cherry red" wheels to fire coming off the wheels. It was a surprising sight, and I gave it to the dispatcher a couple of times; but it turned out to be normal hard braking.
