I just went back and checked my notes from October 27th....I had my scanner on at home at the time of the incident.....The train in question was a Southbound Q439. At 6:35PM on October 27th, the crew called the NJ Dispatcher and reported striking someone at approximately MP 36.7 on the Riverline, lo...

The 2 mile long Fort Montgomery siding between CP43 and CP45 that was installed a couple of years ago has helped traffic flow on the line too.....It has become a frequent location for holds and meets.

There were two Southbound Autorack trains on the Riverline on Tuesday.....If you were out jogging around Midday or in early afternoon, you likely saw a Southbound Q232.....A Q268 came down the Riverline earlier on Tuesday, but that was well before dawn.....UP power is not a rarity on this line....I ...

The train crews announce on the radio every signal they pass, so tune your scanner to the road frequency. 160.980MHz for the CSX River Line. 160.260 is an alternate frequency to hear chatter,,,,though not signal calling....I live several miles West of the Riverline in Rockland County, NY and monito...

Anthony's Nose has become a favorite vantagepoint of mine....I only discovered earlier this year that trails lead up to the top of it and have been up top about a dozen times since.....I take a slightly longer route that eases the grade...Instead of squeezing into a parking spot tight against Rte 9D...

If they were to double track the entire line, there would also have to be plenty of trestle work to restore double track width....The Fort Montgomery Tunnel, as well as the Haverstraw Tunnels would also likely need to be blasted to enlarge them as the single track is currently centered in them for c...

There are still some of the older GP40 power running through there which is why I enjoy listening to them before someday they get retired as newer power is already displacing them on NJ Transit....

Interesting discussion...I've been working in the Nanuet Mall for the past 25 years and have visited the mall since it opened in 1968(was only 3 years old back then)...and still recall the chugging of the GE U34's on the Pascack Line before they were replaced with the GP40 variants....I sit out in m...

i'm really suprised that was the answer you got. i've been going there for about 10 years. the 'park' itself by the lake is only day use, but all the woods around it? maybee something changed. or just ask someone else again, you might get a different answer. the appalachian trail goes through there...
