What's this I've been hearing about RP2X dropping of cars at some desolate siding in Mountain Lakes? Something about a customer looking to get rail service again?

The only thing that could be considered 'desolate' that was there at one point was the siding into the industrial park just west of 46 but that has been disconnected since the 90's.

So last week they pulled 4 passenger cars out of Lake Junction. How long had they been sitting there before being moved? And who owned them previously?

From the East Tennessee Rail Car Services, Inc's Facebook page on March 8th.

We're pleased to introduce the latest additions to the East Tennessee Rail Car lease fleet! Two coaches and two lounge cars were recently purchased representing 232 revenue seats as currently configured. All four cars are either HEP equipped or otherwise upgraded to use 240v/480v power. Current plans are to cycle a car at a time through repair and re-qualification for tourist or excursion type service.
The cars are as follows:
Lounges 3108 and 3110 were built in 1948 for the Santa Fe Railroad ad Lunch Counter Diners. Amtrak later remodeled them as 48 seat buffet lounge cars.
Coach 6219 was built as a 52 seat coach for Seaboard Air Line in 1947. The car would have seen service in their premier trains, The Silver Meteor and The Silver Comet among a host of others. Amtrak modified the car to seat 60 during the Energy Crisis in the 1970s. Although the car does not have HEP it has been upgraded to modern electrical service and systems. Plans include installation of a Cummins Genset.
Coach 7629 was built in 1953 for service on the Santa Fe Railroad. As built the car seated 48, but Amtrak later modified the interior to seat 76. In her final years on Amtrak the car ran in "Clocker" service between Washington and New York as well as other Northeast destinations. After retirement from revenue service it spent several years as a "Tunnel Car" ferrying maintenance of way employees to and from the rail tunnels in the New York City area.
All 4 cars are available for lease upon requalification. Feel free to reach out about these and other cars and locomotives in our lease fleet.

Based on the photos, these cars came off the Morristown and Erie. Don't know if they owned them or if it was a private owner before East Tennessee .

Go back in time 25 years or pray the sand trains start running somehow. Only way you'll see trains like that around there again unfortunately.
