Which is why I took the trucks out from under PVRX 21 and replaced them with roller bearing trucks, so I could move her around.

The friction bearing equipment can move throughout the owning railroad's system, however if they are to be moved off the system, the car or locomotive must be de-trucked and either shipped by flat car or flatbed trailer or retrucked with roller bearing trucks.
Does this rule apply to all freight railroads or just NS??

All railroads, its a AAR rule prohibiting cars with friction bearings in interchange.
Your best bet borrow similar trucks with roller bearings and exchange trucks, ship original trucks by highway.

That is most likely how they are going to get the two cabooses from Port Murray to Whippany.

18 headed west bound towards denville again around 8:15 this morning. On my way back home(around 11:30) I was stopped at a light and the NJT TGIV train went by, that was interesting can't say I have seen much of that!

Thanks to Phil Schneider.
My guess is that they will either go to scrap, like the others or become parts donors. Why would M&E need to use them??

How many of the Amtrak painted FL9s are still around? Where are they stored? Is there any plans for them? Also will that M420 be painted in Maine Eastern colors?
 #449420  by Sandy Burton

I believe there are three FL-9s still in Amtrak paint.

The "plans" are to paint the M-420 into a Maine Eastern scheme, but I would not bet the ranch on that happening.

Wait... I thought they said they were going to make the Maine Eastern an "EMD Only" operation. Did they change their minds?

3 FL-9's ex-Amtrak should be correct. They bought 6, 2 are in use in Maine, 1 sold this summer to FEC leaving 3 plus the derelict ex-Metro North unit.

486 is in the run-around at Ridgedale ave. I assume the other 2 are still out on either the propane or Vorando leads in East Hanover but that's unverified recently. 2017 is on the run-around at the Junction (by 287) with 7215 and 4216.

So no Amtk FL9 has been scrapped? Is the MN shell still rotting away? Also they did use the M420s for the Maine Eastern before the Maine Eastern paint scheme. Also 4228 worked the Maine Eastern. Does ME still own those RRPX engine that went to WNYP?

No Amtrak Fl-9s have been scrapped.

The MN unit is still around, what is left of it, that is.

The Maine Eastern is using a M-420 still in CN paint. The Maine Coast used M-420s from the P&W and the crews seem to like them.

If you check out the LAL forum, you will find out the details of the ownership of all the locomotives that went to the WNY&P. The short answer is that 4223 and 4228 are on a one-year lease and the 4264 was sold.
