Re: Modeling FL-9's

OK, summer was busier than expected, but I have assembled a (what I think to be) reasonable representation of an FL-9. I spliced together two Williams by Bachman F-7 shells for the body, a Williams F-3 shell for the nose and cab, crafted a base out of basswood, and used basswood to add basic 3rd Rai...

It is a Dietz, and yes NYCS stands for New York Central System. I have that exact same lantern marked "D.L.&W." (Delaware Lackawanna and Western) where yours is marked "N.Y.C.S.".

Thanks bwparker1, I appreciate it!

Ridgefielder: I knew it was on the CNE, but I never really considered that section as anything other than the Berkshire line. For simplicities sake I think I should keep it listed under the Berkshire line, although I'll add a note saying its on the CNE.

Thanks! I'll look into the companies you mention and add them to the list. I don't know if Red Technologies is shipping anything in/out, but they built a brand new siding and have had a P&W gondola spotted there for awhile. I added them to the list because (being a new customer) they could ship ...

Thanks Ron! I've edited the list accordingly. As for Ahlstrom Dexter, that is the company that came up at an address that corresponds to an active siding (3 Chirnside Road, Windsor Locks). I can't tell if they are the actual customer or not without going their myself (as was the case with Turf Produ...

CSX Fresh Pond-Oak Point-Selkirk, then Selkirk-Worcester. CSX operates locals east from Croton Yard (?) up the Harlem line then east on the New Haven Line as far as Rings End Lumber in Darien. They operate a local out of Cedar Hill as far west as Bridgeport, but the two locals never meet. In theory ...

Thanks for the responses! Jayjay, interesting that those tank cars would follow such a routing, especially since they could be handed off to CSX west of Hudson and hauled directly up to Selkirk (although the east of Hudson routing is more interesting ;) ).

Out of curiosity, are FPCH/CHFP limited to only stone traffic between Long Island and New Haven, or does P&W's rights on CSX allow any through traffic to be hauled?

My dad just came home and showed me this video, I almost died laughing! Then the guy in the video called himself a foamer, and I got a barrage of questions (What's a foamer? Oh, so it's an acronym? What do you mean it's not an acronym, it has to stand for something!). Overall, it wouldn't be a bad v...

I know this has been said, but PE 6-5000 is deffinately not Penn Station! My Latin teacher played that song during class last year, and during the song told us it was Penn Station's number. He then got the bright idea to check, and we all called. Within 15 seconds there were 30 high school students ...

They are running either at night or times you are not noticing them. If they stopped service to Pittsfeild (north of Canaan) that would mean they shut down entirely as Pittsfeild is their only interchange. Housatonic is in bad shape but not total shut down quite yet ;)

July issue of Model Railroad Craftsman has an article on sound decoders, FPA-4's 6758 and 6761 were used for the Alco 251 recordings for Rapido Trains models. Apparently they ran the locomotives up and down the line several times in May to get all the recordings, nice to see these units still operat...
