my contenders:
A brace of twenty 40-year old PRR SD40's, built in 1966, still operating with NS and CSX.
Rebuilt by CR in 1993 as SD40-2R's.
(yes, I know its a grey area when locos are rebuilt..but if its the same frame, cab and long hood, I consider it the original engine!
If I put a new engine in my car, its still the same car...
however, I would not count something like the CSX GP30 slugs..since they cant operate under their own power..)
im sure we will have to debate what qualifies!
thats ok..
so..who can beat 40 year old PRR SD40's?
