The Boston & Maine Railroad Magazine Vol. 15 # 5, May 1947 features the article on the HE Fletcher granite Co. - "Buildings and Eggshells". Knew I had it in the collection. Interesting video from 1992 featuring xx-ton centercab engine working the depths of the granite quarry. They dieselized with this centercab around 1952. It's still active; their sole engine to this day.

If the Google Earth elevations are accurate, it's 3.3% near rt 40, and then 2% down into the quarry.

Neat video, the stub of that siding is still visible on Google Earth, abandoned as the excavation in the quarry progressed.
