In addition to the noise, think about the fact that you will be living on/near a close candidate for a Superfund site. Yes, the RR could and in some places be a Superfund based upon the amount of materials leaking from said cars en route to/from their destination. Not to mention the diesel exhaust.

Enjoy!

In some cases, 150+ years worth of leaking.

Cheap way is to buy some land in the country from a farmer by a rail line and put in a double wide or modular seen this take place in wyoming county and cattragus counties a lot of times

Try it out: stay in a trackside hotel for several nights. One that comes to mind is the hotel at Indianapolis Union Station. After a few nights of having air horns occasionally blowing outside your room, six-axle units idling all night, and trains rumbling by every hr or so, you may rethink your strategy... ok, maybe not you, but your wife?!?

Herd there was a farmer selling acreas by the tracks in cattragus county ...could probley buy and put in a modular or maybe a cheap used single or double wide with a septic and well and everthing for under $35,000 ...and use it for a private get away ...See often during the week a long freight train heading down the line towards olean or coming back on this line during the week

The government is not hiding anything there... in fact they employ many of us "public" there. The "secret" nuke crap that comes out of that plant is not so secret. It's leftover nuclear processing chemicals melted inside of thick glass blocks. Those glass blocks are surrounded by several layers of thick plate steel, lead, and concrete. It is virtually leak proof, and tamper resistant.

If the containment system (solid glass surrounded by thick shield layers) even remotely emitted radioactivity or a gas, there ain't no way a train crew would pick it up, to haul it at 10 mph for 1,200+ miles. Consequently, simply passing by at 10 m.p.h., while you stand 15 feet away, would not give you or your loved one any more effect than a 1/2 hour at a beach on a sunny day.

The reason it is done under the cover of darkness, is to avoid and not be seen by paranoid wierdo's who protest this cleanup effort, and more importantly, make it more difficult for any terrorist related surprise activity. Whether the stuff can really do any harm doesn't really matter to a terrorist, since their main objective is simply to terrorize the maximum number of average Americans with fear.

If you live close to a Nuclear plant then have a small glass of red wine a day it thins the blood. When take my wife home to see here parents in Kyiv (Kiev) Ukraine. I was advised to drink Red Wine at leased once if not twice a day once every morning and again before going to bed.

I used to work in a warehouse next to the Guilford main line in the Fitchburg MA area - most passing trains produced little more than noise, but a loaded coal train would shake the entire building. A co-worker who lived next to the main in the next town over claimed that the vibrations from passing trains would cause the occasional picture to fall off the wall in his house, but I have no idea if that was B.S. or not.
