Recently, last sunday, I chased a train from Abington to Franklin St, Whitman.

The train was restricted to 10 MPH, due to a supposed flat spot problem with the engine.

2 Inbounds and one outbound after the fact had to be cancelled.

MBTA/Keolis, just when I couldn't think you could get any worse, you always F**K it upn some more

2033 was the loco, 3"+ flat spots, wheels locked up after a PTC/ACSES penalty. Engineers are unable to "bail off" the HSP loco's brakes during a penalty brake application

Dayum 3+ inch flat spots? That'll be a fun day cutting those wheels. I think the ACS's we run also cant bail off during a penalty.

There are plenty of random oddities where we get random ACSES/PTC/ATC hits. Just like with any computer, there are glitches, and being the RR, there are LOTS of glitches with the system on every single line we operate on. Just depends on the locomotive and location. Like I stated before, once the wheels lock up on the HSPs, you're along for the ride until it clears, or get under 20 mph, or get stopped. F40s and the GP40MCs, we are able to actuate the locomotive (bail off) which reduces the chances of the wheels locking up and for developing severe flat spots

somewhere between Route 128 and Providence?

The Mainline was single track between LAWN and MANSFIELD. The call was finally made to have all overhead power shut down due to the many trees in the wires in various locations between Hyde Park and Pawtucket. A171 was disabled on Track 3 at Readville station. The diesel protect tied on and rescued them about 11am. JUNCTION Interlocking also went down for over an hour. All Amtrak's were being turned in Providence station and our CR PVD/Wickford trains were used to shuffle Amtrak psgr's back n forth. The EB Regionals were having the loco cut off and run around to the west end of the set in order to go WB. Providence and points west had the OCS (Overhead Catenary System) operational. The power was eventually restored about 5pm Monday evening

All kinds of trouble with flooding on the Newburyport / Rockport line today.

Saw some posts online about how a inbound train was turned around earlier today due to flooding. This person said they got on at beverly and was trying to get into Boston. They ended back up at Beverly.

Currently seeing that outbound trains or originating out of Chelsea due to flooding in the Chelsea area. Where is this flooding?

Also, did the tracks get over topped through the marsh in Saugus today?

Hours after a derailed Green Line train impacted weekend plans for thousands of MBTA riders, a downed Amtrak wire forced over 80 passengers to evacuate on the commuter rail and shuttle buses to replace some Orange Line service.

A downed Amtrak catenary wire was reported near Ruggles Station around 3:10 p.m. Saturday afternoon, a Keolis spokesperson told Boston 25 News.

Franklin Line train 1708 was held near the station once fire crews arrived and the 82 passengers onboard were safely evacuated.

According to Keolis, other scheduled trains through this area initially bypassed Ruggles by taking the Fairmount Line but four Needham Line trains were cancelled.

What happened? Southwest corridor runs in a trench, there shouldn't be any trees falling onto wires, right? Did somebody snag the wire? Crickets about what actually happened. Was the wire draped onto the Orange Line tracks? Were any Amtrak trains affected? A tweet said "near roxbury crossing"

still under investigation. Train #1708 was informed to inspect the catenary at 30 mph trk 3 Eastbound....came upon low hanging wire, and ripped it down, only Track 2 could get by after some small "repairs". Wires were initially across all tracks. Occurred on the curve just west of Ruggles station. Track 3 is still OOS for Amtrak electrics

1718 hit a car at Prides Crossing earlier today. I see damage in the plow and one of the stair/traps. Anyone have more info (ex. how long repairs will take and stuff). Image was from a news site.
