A friend who lives near Geneva, NY related recently that last week he had observed what appeared to be a ATSF unit at the FGLK facility in Geneva. Does anyone have any further information?

There are two new units!

In 1988 ATSF Rebuilt 16 of their B23-7 units.
they were upgraded to 3,000 HP and were briefly renumbured in the 7200 series.
FGLK 2309 was part of this group. 2310 was not.

They've also had the 2308 (I believe) that's in more or less Santa Fe colors, for some time. It's blue and yellow but not a warbonnet, I forget the exact details of where it came from (shortline out west) but I'm sure someone else can fill in the blanks or a Google search will bring it up.

Both units must not be running yet I have not seen them roll by where I work. What's the news on them so far are they being worked on? cleaned up? in need of a few parts? just wondering.

Huh? FGLK hasn't fully repainted every locomotive... but the majority of them certainly have been repainted. Examples:

No, let's hope not. I'd **much** rather see then in FGLK paint that ratty patched Santa Fe.

That's true, but look at 2308 and that P&W painted unit they have.
Yes, I've seen at least one of the ex-P&W B23-7s:

Photo taken by me Saturday 10/24/2009 in Victor, NY. That said, let me repeat- the majority of the FGLK locomotive fleet has been repainted. I am not certain if they'll repaint the ex-ATSF units but IMO it wouldn't hurt. Paint has mother than just asthetic value- it will help protect the body of the locomotive from rust. The former P&W units look to be in good shape (as far as paint is concerned) so that may explain why they're still wearing orange. Of course, that is just a guess on my part. :)

I would have to think that the FGLK is just vary busy and needs everything that they got to keep the trains moveing. I'll bet they will start painting when things slow down a tad.

2310 was at the end of a block of boxcars in the yard today..Not sure where 2309 was but the last time i saw both units they were behind the engine house. I also saw a train leaving towards Himrod or Watkins Glen with a bunch of side dump ballast cars all filled....

They have been moveing stone around all over the place it seems like once or twice a week the Geneva-Solvay train has ballast hoppers in it. I have no idea where there dumping the stone.
