That was a city police transmission captured on a railroad frequency with the interference tone. So what happened was that the police signal was too strong and pried into the railroad frequency? But why is it only on THAT particular frequency I ever hear the noise or even the wrong broadcast for tha...

The cameras are always on. You never know when something wild can happen, obviously.

This is what an EOT sounds like.

I've also heard this over a RR channel, but I think it may be my scanner catching a similar frequency from the police.

I will try to catch a crew keying up the dispatcher. If I do, I'll let you know.

Whatever it takes based on average traffic and particular stress on a rail. Minimum is obviously one on each side of the rail per tie.

That car has been in and out many times the last few months. Another car I saw once but not again is the pink Susan G. Komen car. I also spotted a newly painted WSOR car pained in yellow with a black diagonal stripe from top left to bottom right. It appeared to have some large bubbles painted in the...

The 49/449 always confused me. I know they are technically separate trains until Albany, but if I make a reservation for say, Syracuse, I can choose 49 or 449, and occasionally there is a price difference!! Of course, I buy the cheaper one, as it makes no difference to me!

Its A SD60M, number 432. Now flared radiators like on a MAC or SD70M I just saw that scene. It's a CSX SD60M and it's a mistake they put 432 as the number. CSX never had an SD60M with the number 432. Not necessarily a mistake. Many movies feature numbers of aircraft and buses, etc. that do not exis...

So it really is coming down to who will use the station . In that case, lets call a vote. I will! that's one. :) And the rest of my family, so make that 6. Plus I have many friends who would use it. Of course, we wouldn't use the station every single day, maybe twice a year. But still. The great thi...

One of our trains got spiked the other day too. Somebody keeps vandalizing the tracks trying to get an accident. Not too long ago they actually cut a lock on a switch and sent a loco into a siding of boxcars (Thankfully it stopped short-barely!).
