I get the feeling that part of this rail move from Hopedale is convenience... Then the rest is rubbing it in the face of the town. Not that they haven't been asking for it...

It only took three years from mobilization from the plant of the first car to acceptance of the last one.. Not to mention, the whole program from the time of contract grant and official order almost an entire two term presidency stint. Oh, it's still not done. The Rotem warranty modifications encam...

Yeah, definitely slap weight restrictions on the bridges ASAP to prevent those rusty old tanks from arriving. If I lived there I'd be whining too, but not enough to hire lawyers. I'd ask for a tall berm or wall as a blast barrier. The increased tax value will allow road repairs or other municipal s...

The 2001 was dedicated today to Robert M. Tatom and now has a plaque on the sides beneath the windows just like on a few of the F40's. They switched the prime mover already? It would be kind of silly to dedicate a locomotive with a blown engine. It could be possible that the block never cracked... ...

The 40 new commuter rail locomotives delivered to the MBTA late last year at a cost of $222 million have all been sidelined to have their traction motor bearings replaced after the manufacturer discovered last summer that at least some of the bearings are faulty. The major repairs are the latest ro...

The 2001's engine block froze and cracked so it will need a whole new prime mover. A similar thing happened to the 1066 a few years ago. Ouch... I'd hate to have been the crew that found the coolant dumping out of the prime mover. Just how do you tell your boss that the brand new million dollar pie...

STEAM?!?!?! The Friends of The Grafton and Upton Railroad's Facebook page reports that Boothbay personnel have looked at the Baldwin steam engine on static display at Edaville USA for possible use (someday) on the G & U. Interesting... I had to check this three times just to make sure I wasn't ...

What makes me say "Yup, looks like the possibility of another preemption fight" is the following excerpt: According to Moore, DEP officials heard the residents' complaints at the meeting and said it would investigate. Hopefully not.. I'm going to point this out, but the DEP doesn't have s...
