All work on the line was completed between the end of Conrail and beginning of Septa operations. The line was completely shutdown while Septa installed new ties, ballast and grade crossings with gates and signals. This also helped to drive riders away because of the temporary shutdown. If I remembe...

They did run the rdc's into Reading Terminal from Newtown. Run through service ended with the opening of the center city commuter tunnel. The Newtown Line was operated as a shuttle between Newtown and Fox Chase after Reading Terminal closed. That is partially correct. RDCs ran directly into Reading...

Is East Penn / PNRR part of Regional Rail or are they still a separate entity? Hello. I grabbed this from the wikipedia entry. The East Penn Railroad (ESPN) is a short-line railroad]that operates a number of mostly-unconnected lines in the U.S. states of Pennsylvania and Delaware. Except for two in...

People are also incredibly lazy and cannot be bothered to actually research the status of railroad lines near their possible future homes. Meanwhile, they can spend countless hours texting while driving and surfing on Facebook. And if they have money and political indfluence, the poltician looking f...

Fantastic picture! Those poor, shoddy RDCs. They took such awful care of them. If memory serves correctly, the station and tracks are now gone, yes?

There are now some track issues near CSV. Something about a 19 year old girl and her 13 year old boyfriend, which in itself speaks volumes. They were caught pushing a shopping cart along Rt. 9, harvesting tie plates and spikes from the 'abandoned' railroad. So now that track needs work. Tony never ...

Hello all. Can anyone recall any memories of riding in SEPTA's RDCs from the 60s to January 1983? Looking for anything. Pictures, memories, problems, condition, etc. Reading, Pottsville, Jersey City, Quakertown, Bethlehem, Allentown, Newtown. Anything relating to the Newtown line is a plus. Huntingd...

I couldn't get a close look, just pulled over to grab a quick pic; this is where the Secondary crosses NJ Route 9, just a bit north of Woodhaven..... http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=...

Rumors I heard were that CSV was seeking some sort of rent from CMSL for the land on which the station sits. Ironically, the station canopy was "recycled" from the original PRSL Cape May Court House station however I believe the station building itself was newly constructed when service o...

This discussion was based purely on a "it would be nice" suggestion from a poster further up in the thread. While I am certainly not a spokesperson for CMSL, I highly doubt that steam operations are anywhere in their strategic plans. The idea of steam has been suggested to Tony by NJ-ARP ...

The website has been updated since the last time I looked around Christmas. Regarding all schedules, it says this, "Note: information will be posted as it becomes available! If you don't see it listed then it isn't available." I copied that directly from the site. I guess they don't have ...

Noticed this past weekend that grass was growing high near the Rt. 47 crossing. Rio Grande itself looks desolate since Tony was told to essentially get out of town. I have been following CMSL since 1996/1997 and have seen the townships up and down the line make life a living hell for Tony for no log...

I LOVE IT! Have not heard that since a Bugs Bunny cartoon. Seriously, though, that quote is embarrassing. "A little transportation system. We here in Cartown don't know what transportation is unless you have your own."
