The Second Ave subway, along with other improvements, was originally in bond proposals and approved by the voters in the early '50s. It was also passed in the mid '60s. I originally started with NYCTA in the late '60's and we had more lines and stations in service in those days. We've had good times...

But these projects were in the pipeline before the economy went south.

M.T.A. Postpones Subway Upgrades

The MTA postpones subway and bus upgrades today (from NY Times online). Wasn't the recent fare increase for these upgrades ? The MTA and NYC Transit couldn't run a Lionel train around a circular track without screwing up. Fulton St connector, SAS, Javits extension, all late or scaled back. Fellow fo...

The 42nd St. routes are interesting in that the shuttle runs express from GCT to Times while the 7 train stops at 5th Av. One express track of the original 4 track subway was removed to provide platform space at Times. All 3 remaining tracks are connected to the through routes, the northern two via...

IIRC the 110A was a Kawasaki with motors like the # 6, and the 110B was a Bombardier like today's # 2 and # 5 lines and sounded like those lines.

depends on what day the date is set for if during the weekday I know for a fact that the S62 is still running and it stops at the riverhead rail and the PJ rail. So on the weekend you can hop that bus and take a PJ train. If it's the week day then your screwed cause the next train aint untill 8:32 ...

P.M. Service from Riverhead Westbound (weekdays)

If I'm called for jury duty in Riverhead and I leave the courthouse after 4:30 pm how do I get to Brentwood ? If I'm reading this schedule correctly there isn't another train for over 5 hours. I know Suffolk County Transit doesn't run at night so am I SOL or what ?

Drug arrests or DUI, DWIA, or something similar, or even marijuana possession are red flags almost automatically. Come clean and take your chances. Remember it's the one out of three rule. Three candidates with the same exact score on the test but only one gets the job.

As a child in Brooklyn in the '50s I rode the Fulton St, Myrtle Ave and the Canarsie and Franklin Ave BMT lines and the IND Fulton St "A" lines the most. As a teenager my first real after school job was at Alexander's on 58th and Lex in Manhattan. I fell in love with the Brightliners on th...

The repair barn for the #3 line is at New Lots ( Livonia ) yard. The #4 line provides Lexington Ave service 24/7 while the #2 line does the same on Seventh Ave. The #3 and #5 are now considered supplementary lines and as such do not run 24/7 although the # 5 does run a 5 stop shuttle on the midnight...

The law says you cannot pass between cars unless NYPD or the train crew gives you permission to do so in an emergency situation. The Control Center, NYPD, or FDNY can declare an emergency but ultimately the train crew would be the people on the scene who would make the first determination.

Why not connect the"'L" and 7 lines at Javits ? The 7 is the next line on the CBTC list anyway. Then continue the "L"further up the West Side as far as necessary. Sort of a replacement for the original "K". Just have a cross platform or two level connection at Javits be...

The only stop to be added is the Javits stop as of today. The proposal is to build a " shell " for the 10th Ave stop for a station which [may] be built later. The 7 already stops at Times Square- PA Bus Terminal.
