http://www.parksley.com/seeus.shtml I've never personally been to the museum, but I work with one of the members of the ESRM at the Maryland & Delaware RR. This is a place you should definitely call first before traveling to it to make sure there are folks there (its mostly volunteer based, if n...

Hurlock Dyas will be 10/1/11 this year. We ran 5 trips last year and all were sold out. Come early and buy your tickets! 2628 ought to be on the point as the RS3m (1203) in Federalsburg is down for the time being. I will be the conductor on the locomotive that day taking care of all the switching ne...

Per Al Moran (the SD80MACKing): "CSX is adding several sets of crossovers to the MET. One set at "Montrose" just east of Rockville, is in and signalling is just about done (3 of the 4 are up but not in service). Another set is on site at Tuscarora, just east of Point of Rocks. Concret...

When I was last in Chestertown a couple of years ago, the track was clearly out of service the last few miles into Chestertown, but there was a (closed) railroad-theme restaurant or bar at the end of track, with several old commuter coaches (looked like ex-EL or CNJ cars) outside. Does anyone know ...

I have no idea when the last train ran down that line, do you? The track you speak of was pulled up all in the last two months. The lead from Hurlock is still in place as that is where the town stores its two N&W coaches for Hurlock Days, but I think the track was pulled from the first grade cro...

Pretty sure there is one in Roanoke, VA. I have seen a scrap yard while traveling down 581 towards/from Martinsville on the east side. I know there is a spur into it. I have seen gons being loaded and old motive power getting torched inside their property. I am not sure how accessible it is for came...

It is indeed Tri-Gas. They aren't wasting any time with those state funds. We went by there today on the train (I usually work up north but get to Federalsburg every so often) and the grading is mostly done and the sub roadbed is already in place.

If you are talking about Williamsport , that track is serviced by the Maryland Midland RR (now part of G&W). :-D If you are talking about Williamsburg , then that would be MDDE's trackage. We have a customer there now (Tri-Gas) who already has a siding. We currently can spot eight loads and plac...

Tidewater's first boxcar (a 46 year old ratty NS one) in many moons came online yesterday. Today's crew ought to have spotted that car, as well as a couple loads for QA Coop. I love having more work on the railroad and seeing customers come (back) online. Now we just need to get the lumber place ove...

No, its been abandoned for a good while now. That is the line that went to Easton via Ridgely among other places. The PRR bridge over ROute 404 was taken out earlier this year in anticipation of widening Route 404. If you go to this page: http://www.abandonedrails.com Click on Maryland or Delaware a...

Hurlock Days 2010 will be next Saturday, 10/2, if anyone is interested. At least 4 (probably 5 as they always sell out) excursions to Federalsburg will be made. I will be the conductor on the locomotive!

I am not in any capacity trying to officially speak for the MDDE or the state, but Maryland just spent a ton of money rehabbing the line from Worton to Massey. Maryland also rehabbed two of the RS3m's too, one of which had been deadlined for a number of years (1201). There was speculation that some ...

Sounds like MDDE needs a salesperson to get some businesses back and find new ones. Later! Mr. Ed Funny we were talking about this just over a month ago. I worked the northern line yesterday and the Massey MOW man went to Tidewater to inspect, repair, grease, and replace items in the siding. It loo...
