Heard cackle on my buddy's scanner a few weeks ago that NS had a hefty load of empties they picked up in Portland. Must still be taking a fair amount of cars up there.

Went across the Church St. crossing on the old CNJ the other day. Saw some cars sitting west of crossing. At least one was a box car. Didn't know they were running down there anymore. Anybody know anything about this?

I caught a strange northbound at Matawan a couple years back. Comet 4 control car, (2) Alp45 DPs and then about 5 comet 3s and 4s. This was the afternoon train.

R&N has tank cars stored all over the system. There is another string of them on the former BM&R track from Hamburg to almost Temple. The line breaks in a few places for crossings and bridges but they are all white tank cars.Would love to be there when they move them out.

I don't know symbols but I can tell you this much, merchandise freight has really dropped off since 2001. I look back at my old videos and can't believe what used to run through here.
