Reports are he passed away from his injuries. It's a sad situation for his family, but also because it was so avoidable.
It's a huge improvement when you consider that all three divisions used to be on what today is channel 2. This change is needed due to the many trains and constant radio chatter. I'm sure both train crews and RTC's will appreciate having to deal with a lot less talking on the radios.
I the coming year, MN's New Haven Line will use two radio channels instead of one. Currently radio channel 3 frequency 160.545 (AAR channel 29) covers the entire line from CP 212 to CP 274 including the New Canaan, Danbury and Waterbury branches. In the near future the current 160.545 will only be u...

Granted MN's New Haven Line is a mess. But what else can be done? Fixing tracks with slow orders, replacing catenary and underpasses takes time. It most likely will be another 3 to 5 years until all such projects are completed. Even after that, the upcoming replacement of the drawbridges will commen...
The Village of Pelham and the Village of Pelham Manor have separate police & fire departments and governments, but are both grouped under the generic label of Pelham. Look it up on Wikipedia.
Enough about this. Now back to our regularly scheduled program......................................
There are Two Pelhams. The MN Pelham Station is in the Town of Pelham and the part of Pelham that borders the Bronx is the Village of Pelham Manor.
I love reading some of the fanciful posts whenever I need an escape from reality. Some people seem to think there's billions of dollars available for things like raising speeds and adding tracks. Both will never happen. MTA/CDOT are having enough trouble just maintaining what they already have. Drea...
The Cape Flyer service needs faster speeds and fewer stops.
Not a whole lot of people want to go to Penn Station, as it's a real dump and the surrounding neighborhood isn't much better. I know a lot of people who ride the Amtrak trains from Albany (and points further north) that would much rather go into GCT than Penn Station.
Too many sharp curves and close clearances. The NH Line's speeds are pretty much maxed out. The only speed increases are going back to 90 MPH from east of New Rochelle to just west of Harrison and possibly just east of Milford to New Haven (excepting the curve at West Haven). There will be no speed ...
Nice catch.
One factor that really hurts the Flyer is the slow speed from BB to Hyannis. It takes one hour to go 23 miles, which is nothing short of absurd. As has been mentioned previously there is opposition to raising the track speed above 30 MPH by residents who live near the tracks as well as some towns fe...
I think this season's ridership numbers are more realistic. Last season quite a few people rode the Flyer for the novelty of it and did not ride it again this season. Add in a short summer and the higher fare that may have kept ridership down. As long as the Flyer continues to stay in the black the ...
