Lucinda parker's book "Into Salisbury County" has a lot of information about Irondale, Jerseyfield Lumber and the LF&D. It states that locomotive #3 was purchased from NYC&HR in 1910 and sold on August 16, 1916 to General Equipment company who on the same day sold it to the Pittsbu...

The 821 and 407 were purchased by a private corporation from NYC Transit at auction, who also paid to move them off Staten Island. The 407 was trucked to CMRR who purchased it at that time. UHRR chose to lease the 821 for one year with an option to buy in the event they were chosen to continue to op...

I worked at Burrows paper in the 80s, this plant is at the far east end. They received boxcars of cardboard and sent out big rolls of tissue paper. Driving there, there was a plant on the right (south) called Cherry Burrell who made big stainless steel tanks. Burrows used to have a nice brick chimne...

It interesting that not too far to the east, in an area with not as much snow historically, snowmobile clubs coexisted and shared the track with the RR. On the D&H North Creek Branch, Warren County had an agreement with the local snowmobile clubs that they could use the tracks from mid-Dec throu...

Parallel tracks still exist in the floor of the RLW building from when they built steam locomotives.

No unfortunately...it was parked for several years at the end of a long siding between the mainline and a housing development, but hard to photograph without trespassing. It's visible on Google Maps at the east end of the Norfolk SOuthern Yard, east of Van Dorn Street. I passed it many times on VRE ...

The black CF7 that has been stored for several years was just cut up, on a siding at Vulcan Materials by Van Dorn Street. The frame left today on a truck, and only an end platform and a truck were left. Spoke with the scrapper...apparently was a good runner but lack of alignment control couplers did...

A GE 35 ton critter was delivered in December to Dimension Fabricators in Glenville, NY, site of the old Super Steel shop. The Amtrak Turboliners rust quietly behind the shop. The locomotive was trucked from Little Rock, Arkansas.

The RS36, 5019, was pushed up to the north end and put on a siding. The old coaches/flat cars were taken down to a siding near Corinth last fall. Probably still there. Apparently Iowa Pacific bought all the equipment, including #5, from UHRR. A few of the old coaches that were stored at the north en...

Several years ago my partner and I made a proposal to M&H to purchase the diesels, and in the process of removing them, move the electrics to ths siding so they could be easily craned onto trucks or a flat car for further movement. We contacted DRM, NYCT Museum, amd others in the region includin...

Both locomotives, 146 and 153, are still at Central Hudson Gas and Electric (now Dynegy), and both are operational. The #146 was bought new from GE in 1951 and still operating for the original buyer 60 years later...pretty cool.

C&O Speeder Info

I recently acquired a C&O Speeder, the M-1631. It is a Fairmont M-19. There is no Fairmont plate listing the serial number. I'd like to identify that, and when it was built. It was apparently stationed in Doswell, VA at the end of its service life. Thanks for any info!
