I am planning a trip to northern Ohio, likely to the Deshler/Toledo area. I have heard there are still some Color Position Light signals making their last stand on the ex-B&O Toledo Sub and in a few other areas. Could someone please tell me as many locations as possible? I need more information ...

When were the GE P30CH "pooches" retired? I know it was sometime around 1991. Why were all of them cut up?

I thought NS didn't like AC units? What is the reason for this?

TE-70-4S

I have read about SP's TE-70-4's, which were oddball MK rebuilds from U25B's with Sulzer engines. When were these units removed from service? I know they were just cut up a few years ago after sitting in storage for over a decade.

There is a short list on UP's website, but you can do a google search and find a ton of them. My finances were tight at the time of the interview, and it would have cost plenty to move out to Iowa, and risk a layoff due to the recession. The location was literally in the middle of nowhere, and there...

Manufacturing

I am interested in a career in locomotive or freight car manufacturing. Does anyone know what they are looking for in terms of education and experience? I have a Bio degree and have three years of chemical and coatings experience under my belt in a Quality Control lab.

My best advice is start applying to shortlines and regionals. Make a list of their phone numbers and call them one at a time. I did that last year and was able to find a short line in Iowa that happened to be hiring, but did not make the move since my financial situation was so poor.

Thanks for the tip. I will try to autofocus, and there is an infared light for this model. It is available for about $50 on ebay so it is worth a shot. If you have any more suggestions, please let me know.

I have not adjusted well to the digital video. After shooting railroads for 11 years with a Sony 8mm Handycam, I am trying to adapt to the use of a Sony HD miniDV handycam DCR-HC28. There are more toys with this model, although they seem to do little to correct my main issue of focusing on a moving ...

I will be taking a trip to the Keystone State at the end of this month, and am asking if there are any hot spots worth visiting besides Horseshoe Curve. I will be heading for Scranton and then heading back west.
