I recently saw some Chicago "L" platforms in N. Not sure who made them, or if they'd even be close to what Boston uses, but they do exist.
Lets leave automobile horns out of the discussion, as the OP never wanted to do that to begin with.
HT1000 come in several varieties, some of which can do narrowbanding. The second to last digit in the model number determines the radio Version. If the 11th digit in the model number is a C or a D, then they are capable of being programmed with 12.5 khz channel spacing. Ie, the radio I have is H05KD...
Instead of asking the OP to spend money on books that may or may not answer the question, lets just try to answer it and see where it goes, eh? So, here's my stab at it. In order to run multiple DC trains on the same layout, the layout needs to be broken into blocks. DCC does not require blocks, but...
There are ones listed from 2002 here:

It may be illegal to have that radio. But in those cases, it would also be illegal to have a scanner. For example, NYS has a law on the books that any device capable of receiving police frequencies is illegal (with an exception for amateur radio operators). I would check your local laws to see what ...
I've split this topic off on its own, since it doesn't fit with the original thread. It should be noted the Google doesn't 'steal' anyone's pictures, nor do they copy them or move them. Google simply indexes them for easier navigation and searching. If you do a Google image search, the search still ...
Fascinating history, but lets try to stay on the topic at hand...
15 Employees at this time according to LinkedIn. Not sure how accurate that is, but is dead on for a few other companies that I looked up. So, bottom line is the staffing isn't nearly as big at is was at ACES, but enough that in a little while they may start producing titles. I would be surprised if...
Nah.. it's not a two person start up... certainly not... Actually, it is. The two founders, Creative Director Rick Selby and Managing Director Kathie Flood, are no strangers to simulations – both are former Microsoft Aces Studio leaders and industry veterans. Not only will Cascade Game Foundry ad...
Being somewhat familiar to that part of Baltimore, as I just visited it, I would highly suggest a taxi. It probably won't be all that much.
The BIGGEST factor for the mandating of digital spectrum is the increased bandwidth capabilities. If more frequencies become available for licensing in the same spectrum range, the FCC gets to make more in licensing fees. Like everythign else, it comes down to the all-mighty dollar. Digital radios ...
When you go to Syracuse, be sure to nab a seat on the river side of the train (left side up, right side back). Its a much better view, and you can usually catch a few freight trains going up and down the river line, which is directly across the Hudson from where your train will be.
