Just wondering if it is as strict as when first hired, cause I have noticed my hearing has changed a little from the job. So they check again for all that vision, depth perception, color vision, etc? or just vision and hearing and its over?

how does a conductor know when to move the train? is there like a light in the cab that says all doors are closed?
cool! what is color for open door? so i assume when a train pulls into a station that light goes to yellow?
I noticed on the outside of the cab there are alot of lights...how does a conductor know which are for the doors? what are all those lights for?
Chill out, despite what almost everyone has posted--you'll be FINE. I have the same disorder, and I am a conductor. During my physical the doc told me that as long as I can pass a field test I would be okay. I did, and if you can see colors like you say--you'll pass to bro. Good luck and train roll...
what are the signals like in the yards to know? I heard it is x and an arrow...seems easy to remember

Do Metro North Conductors have to pass a signal test? If so what is the test like and how is it given? They show you the aspect, you give the name and indication. Not just interlocking signals, but Speed Limit Signs, Approach Signs, Manual Block Signs, cab signals, those are all part of the signal ...
