A train just headed east on the RVL through Cranford. Might be the first move all day. No Gladstone tomorrow and I'll bet the system-wide delays are pretty bad tomorrow.
Has anyone seen any movement on the NJT system today? I'd have thought that despite the service suspension there would be some activity to keep the tracks clear. I live near the RVL and haven't seen anything all day. Admittedly, the ALP 45's are pretty quiet, but I think I'd have seen or heard somet...
NJT F40's 4114, 4118, 4127 and 4129 are still sitting in Garwood by PathMark along with GP40ph-2's 4107 and I believe 4101.
Looks like a clean sweep of all the locos in Garwood. Unless they just moved them down towards Westfield, they're all gone. The move must have occurred mid-morning. Some of the comets behind PathMark are gone too.
5445 had F40's on both ends tonight. 4124 was the unit on the east end. I didn't catch the unit on the west end, but based on what's still rolling, I suspect it was 4120. They are bracketing 7 comets.
4142 and 4136 are gone.
I think everything up to 4127 is gone - 4141 definitely is. I'll look for 4142 and 4136 tomorrow if I go by there.
I assume 4138 is Sandy Damaged with all that rust below the frame, while 4143 spent some time in Canada. Seems kinda funny that they are taking them from random places in the middle of that dead line. 4127 was ahead of them. I take it the FH's are going first for the most part, despite all being des...
A move was made in the last 24 hours. Two GP40FH's and one GP40PH-2 are gone. I believe the 4144 and 4136 were elephant style at the front of the line by Home Depot. Those two and the GP that followed - might have been 4218 - are gone. The rest are still there.
There was a nice 7-car tossed comet salad out on the RVL Friday night and most of Saturday. Nice to see something different out there.
Any one know what train that 4-car set w/4147 went east on this morning? That "Bay Head Banger"-like consist must have been a sardine can.
I saw that service was suspended towards the latter half of the evening rush between Crandord and Newark due to a Conrail signal failure from NK to Aldene. Was a bus bridge provided or were passengers simply advised to "seek alternate means?" When were things back up and running? I saw an ...
After the CNJ Terminal and yard complex was closed with the Aldene Plan, how long did it take before tracks were removed, out buildings were demolished and the freight yard and engine complex were shut down? Prior to 1976, I'd immagine, as that's when Liberty State Park was dedicated. I was just cur...
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on CNJ Mainline (RVL) schedules both right before and right after the Aldene Plan was implemented. I have seen timetables from the 1975-1978 era and they are not very much different from the current RVL schedule on NJ TRANSIT, with some trains actually...
