Well shoot, I should have said hello. It would have been good to thank you in person for all the info I've learned over the years from reading your posts. I was the guy in the red polo shirt standing there taking pictures of my son. Now I know to say "Hi" at the Phase II opening in a few y...

5612? did you mean 5012 or is it some other reference? I passed thru the silver line stations way later in the day, so chances are it did not happen right away. the glitchy PIDs were on the Tysons corner outside unit. I definitely did see one of the Greensboro PIDS completely off. Now onto phase 2!...

if there was any confusion about the beginning of silver line service, the wapo article clears it up After the inaugural train covers the 11.7 miles of new tracks and is about to arrive at East Falls Church, all the simulated Silver trains headed in the other direction, from Largo toward Wiehle, wi...

Thanks - I remember hearing that there was sufficient space to shelter under the platform and remain clear of the 3rd rail shoe somewhere, but wasn't sure of the accuracy of it.

What to do if you end up on the tracks

Talking with some friends about the guy up in New York that was pushed to his death in front of an oncoming train sparked a discussion about what we would do if we were to end up on the tracks in a station with a train approaching. The best course of action we came up with was to run in the directio...

The top floor of the Union Station parking garage (where that picture above was taken) is also an excellent spot.

Re: MARC AEM-7s

Another route the MTA/MARC could take would be to purchase Amtrak's AEM-7AC's and HHP-8's from them when they receive their ACS-64's. The AEM-7's would be nice. I don't think anyone would be interested in spending a dime on the HHP's. At least as of last fall, MARC had no plans on getting in on the...

The problem isn't drinking on the train, the problem is driving after you've had too much to drink. The problem isn't solved on the train, it's solved in the parking lot and on the roads.

The 39's will remain in revenue service.

There was a shuttle between some of the Metro stations and the golf course, but you had to pay (unlike the free shuttle from the parking lots) and I think that I read somewhere that tickets for the Metro shuttles were sold out.

No problem - the only reason that I was so sure of it is that I had to look it up in the first place! :)

No, I mean the 9th street bridge.

T Street doesn't have a bridge:
