It was the 22K that set out due to CP's length restiction. Had nothing to do with 206 or block swapping....but good guess....

SST - I'm curious with your scenario how you propose to get all the traffic moving east and west? all the east bound freight has to go over draw. there's no was to get on the Buffalo Line from the west. only westbound at CP5. Railroaded has the best solution - although i doubt they'll ever rebuilld ...

As soon as the new bridge is completed you won't see any more coal trains on the Olean Secondary....that is if and when NS ever builds a new bridge. As with all the rumors on the RR....I'll believe it when I see it. I know that NS isn't happy with the WNYP tho. Transit times over the secondary are p...

Just curious Poppyl....where has NS eliminated "a lot" of excess track? Since ConRail, NS has done nothing but improve the Tier tremendously. Sure they got rid of the Buffalo Line, Olean Secondary, east of Binghamton, and the Bath Secondary to shortlines, but they haven't torn up much trac...

Now the newest rumor is with the upswing in the economy and the new Patriot Corridor traffic the single track project is off!!! Good news!!! The new signal system is still on so if all goes as planned we'll have 261 signals and upgraded double track. Ideally the rumor mill has it if traffic continue...

Yes they are single tracking the section between Waverly and Binghamton. 3 sidings in between. All new signal system is going in as well. Work has already begun on this and will be in full swing hopefully when the weather breaks.

Scot - it would be nice if you could put up the old eastbound approach right-of-way in a similar fashion on here. I would think you'd be able to see it from above as it's quite easy to make out from the current ROW. The old approach had even gentler curves than the current one. Not sure why they re-...

I heard around Oct. 7th, give or take a day. I was told the schedule but can't recall the exact details. As of last week though, it isn't a rumor. The F-units are scheduled to go up there on the new route unless things change. Forgot to add - IIRC I was told that they will be swapping out power so t...

It's just the appreviation NS uses for the Southern Tier line. Each line has its own. The Buffalo line MP's were BR for example.

Yes several trains detoured over the B&P and the WNY&P, as I posted earlier. CJ's info is not that reliable obviously. Bridge is open and restored to normal operation.
