To engineers who operate this locomotive, does it bother you that the front pillars are so thick to obstruct views to the right or left? The engineer does not sit in the center.

I noticed strobes on the Chargers, I thought the ditch lights made the strobes redundant. I like the strobes better, missed watching the F40 strobes bounce off CUS ceiling.

Great photos. Amtrak must be very pleased with the latest addition.

The pillars are no bother. You look forward not to the sides so much. The side windows are perfectly lined up where you can spot a train easily thru the window, unlike HST and HHP-8 which were too high for some shorter people.

I cant wait to see how long it takes for the midwest and cali guys to want to rip those horrible seats out. No suspension in them. You feel everything in the track.

Possibly not a problem on DB track; often in the coaches you don't know when you're going through an interlocking if you're not looking out the window. May show the need to consider where the units will be running.

Or the need to actually maintain your track and equipment...

Amtrak would have that bose seat broken in no time.

A traditional USSC seat with the adjustable spring shock absorbing seat would be fantastic.

I heard that only one Charger is in service Chicago-Milwaukee and two are testing as trailing units Chicago-St. Louis. What kind of issues are keeping the others from being in service?

CHI-STL trains don't have a Charger in the lead because they haven't yet gotten the proper cab signaling/etc to lead through the 110mph segment.

foreign nations buy far more US locomotives than US buys foreign units, so protectionism would bite us in the ass.
