The train backed into Yard 8 at approximately 18:00 this evening. Extremely dense fog so I wasn't able to get any pictures worth posting.

From the Portland Press Herald:
Portland Press Herald wrote:A half-mile of vintage private railroad cars rolled through southern Maine on Sunday carrying 210 rail fans, some of whom traveled from as far away as California to attend a national convention of private rail car owners in Portland this week.

The Pine Tree Limited – a convoy of three Amtrak locomotives and 26 vintage rail cars – may be the most luxurious and historic train ever to enter Maine.
. . .
As the Pine Tree Limited traveled Sunday from East Deerfield, Massachusetts, to Portland, people gathered at almost every rail crossing to take photographs or gape at it. Many of them waved as it passed by.
. . .
Tom Pearson, 73, a retired telephone company executive, was riding in his car, a sleeper called the Salisbury Beach, which had traveled to Maine from Los Angeles.
. . .
Pearson, who has owned the car for 25 years, said this was the first time he had traveled in it on its original route.

I drove by last night after getting back from Boston. The observation on the rear had the search light going while it sat there in the fog. Made for an interesting sight with that twisting around, sending beamd of light around. But it did not look like 26 cars to me. More like 15 but was unable to count due to driving in the fog...

It was indeed 26 cars.

The car I saw on the head end was not the one on the video. So they must have moved them someplace else, or on an adjacent track. Someone else can verify, a
nd I mean by eyes on the parked train, not a video of them moving.

Some of these are of the future intermodel yard area as well
I apologize for the poor quality, all I had was a point and shoot, the light was bad and I was shooting through a screen and... and, I know, it's a poor craftsman who blames his tools.

Now that explains why I saw what I estimated to be only 15 cars. The dense fog hid the rest. And not only did they split the train, they turned half of it.
