This circa 2006 photograph said the units were going into storage. Was it for the winter or some other reason? Are the steam locomotives being stored during the 2007/8 winter?

Why have IAIS's steamers dropped off the radar after all the activity in 2006?

There are several fpriegn built steam locomotives operating in the USA. as a matter of fact a couple of dozen. These include the Sweedish locomotive of The Belfast & Moosehead Lake RR in Maine, Narrow Gauge at Edaville in Mass. The Suzy- Q pair one of which was operated by The valley railroad in Conn. Many others from Canada built in Canada. The Flying Scotsman was Americanized when it visited back in the 70s. They need to meet FRA Codes under Part 230 for safety. We import cars nd trucks from overseas and they need to meet our standards before they are shipped. Steam Locomotives are no different. The Chineese were building new ones right up to about a decade ago, thats pretty new stuff. I rode in the cab of a Chineese 2-8-2 back a few years ago when Suzy- Q #42 went on a fan trip in Vermont. It was a very nice riding locomotive, was easy on coal and ran very well. Nothing wrong with that.
