I'd like to see an old EL MU. Are there any in the NYC area? There used to be at least one along MNRR near Taarytown I think. Is it still there?

Also, did any of these go to the White Pass and Yukon RR?

Thanks.

Nope, none in Tarrytown. You're thinking of Croton North, along Route 9, parked next to the old station. Repainted in the last five years, covering over the EL markings.

If you want to ride in a restored MU trailer, head north to the Catskill Mountain Railroad. We finished restoring one in 2003, and we'll have a second one complete for the 2009 season.

We have one in Rochester, NY, the last car from the last MU train to depart Hoboken in 1984. It recently suffered a roof collapse, we could really use some donations to stabilize the car and possibly restore the roof. It is former 2628. http://www.rgvrrm.org

New Hampshire's Hobo Railroad has a few ex-DL&W MU motor cars with the end walls removed to make them open platform cars. They are supposed to look much older than they really are.

And the Conway Scenic Railway in New Hampshire also has several, One trailer has been coverted to a diner, and another trailer, spiffed up and painted, is used as a coach. But the engineer's seat behind the door is still there. They haven't done anything with the motor cars, though.

Some motor cars are being hauled in the tourist train in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, behind an EMD BL-2 locomotive.

You can still make out the "LACKAWANNA" stencil near the rooflines on passing Upper Hudson line trains.

Isn't there one also rotting away in the Boonton boneyard?

There are some repainted DL&W MU cars being used for additional seating at the restaurant in the Northumberland, Pa. PRR Freight Station.

Pretty sure the White Pass & Yukon is 3-foot gauge, which would make it diffuclt at best for them to use former DL&W MU's - they'd need new trucks at least, and usually narrow gauge cars are shorter than standard gauge cars due to the tighter curves and clearances.
