SUSQUEHANNA EQUIPMENT MOVE TRAVERSES CSX'S CHICAGO LINE:

Today the NYSW ran an equipment move over the CSX Chicago Line, between the Utica, N.Y. shop and NYSW interchange in Solvey, near Syracuse, N.Y.. With a CSX and NYSW crew onboard the special was lead by M636 #3672 pulling NYSW E9s 2402 & 2400, RDC M-5, business car 510 and two covered hoppers. The business car has just been extensively shopped for an upcoming special passenger train that will run the length of the railroad. The RDC has been rebuilt with rebuilt engines and new glazing. The two E9s are reported to be sold to a Class One railroad. (Al Gorney/LocoNotes via John Krattinger - posted 10/18)

More From Al Gorney:

Subject: NYSW Utica shops

Although the line to Binghamton washout have not been repaired yet, the Utica shops still has locomotives being shipped out and received from CSX in October:

Out bound have been M636 #3672, E9s 2400 & 2402 and RDC M-5.

Inbound have been M636 #3664, B23-7 #2300, U23B BDLX 2208 and SD40T 3010.

Inside the shop is M636 #3666 having its electronics replaced and the 3664 for truck work.

The Susquehanna Loco and Repair crews are working on the last BAR GP38-3 #362 and U23B BDLX 2207 being fixed up for lease.

In the storage compound are Century 636s # 3660 and 77 (3662). Both of these units have their traction motors removed and look to be parts sources. Both of these units are the original ALCO Century 636 demonstrators and the shells should be preserved in rail museums painted in the ALCO demo paint.

Thanks for the update Al.
I originally was planning on buying #2207 but it had freeze damage. I was under the assumption the block was damaged.
Since #2207 had nice wheels, I had them ( as combos ) transferred to #2209 as part of the deal when i bought it.
I figured #2207 would have been a parts unit. Nice to see it is getting repaired.

Jeesss. Every post I start to read now its all about the equipment dying. I mean it dies before but now its like everything is just going to hell.

What do you expect? Wally likes to spend money to make his passenger cars nice and tidy while the power could use a bit of sprucing up.

About a week ago, 3672 suffered a mechanical breakdown, and has been parked in Warwick ever since

looks as though there may be issues with one of the front axles

The unit was sidelined up there after having an axel lock up enroute on a SU99. Im hoping its still up there after i get home from college.

3672 had a axle seize up and was dragged for miles causing a 6 inch flat spot. They had set it off where it is now running. When someone came down to check on it, they found it dead with the red light for fuel cutoff on. So who knows what will happen now. Its had been fairly warm the last few nights till last night and tonight here in nj its supposed to go down to as low as 28*.

All they have to do, is drain it. No big deal, about how cold it gets. The 6 inch flat spot, if it IS really that big, makes the unit impossible to move, without a wheelset swap-out, right where it sits. Would be interesting to know, why the engineer didn't know the wheels were sliding, if the unit was "hooked-up", as part of the consist.......... :(
