Hi all. Interesting post. I work part-time at Tighe. There were 14 cars sitting on the sidings tuesday night. 7 on each siding including that empty Cargill tanker that has been there for some time. Also a empty (assumed) cement hopper. Here are some pics I took a month ago or so.

Cool pics, though I saw them when they were new. I check the nerail 'newest' photos way too regularly :-)

I was hoping I'd catch a downeaster blow on by...
Errr....might want to try Andover station if you really want the train to "blow by." The Downeaster probably doesn't top 20 mph at Wilmington, whereas it rips through Andover at perhaps 50 (just a guess). Pretty quick through Ballardvale too, at least based on my last two Downeaster rides.

I meant I just wanted to see it. Mishuam is the best place I've seen to get blown off your feet. They go 60/70 through there without slowing down a bit.

Fair enough. Where is Mishuam again? Is that a station name? I can't find it on Google maps or the MBTA system map.

Yeah thats the name. It should be on both of those things. On the Lowell line.

Yeah, the spelling was throwing me off. :-) Got it pinned down now.

Yeah i think every time i spell it, i spell it differently. Maybe I should bag one of the signs, then i'll remember how to spell it :-)
j/k!

In Wilmington today:

-1-50' refer boxcar at Wilmington Cold Storage
-a dozen or so (give or take a few) 2 bay covered hoppers at Lehigh Cement.

LOSA should be big tonight. Not sure whats at Atlantic Plywood, Tighe and Rohtsteins.

aw i wish i could get out there but alas i cannot. Is there a place to go to see all the cars back behind the cement place? Can you just pedal on in through the front or is there some other way to catch a glimpse?

If you are on rt. 38 take Eames st. Going north it will be on your left. If you are on Rt. 129 take Woburn st. South and take a right onto Eames st. Once you go over the train bridge it is on your right. The tracks across the street used to be part of the "woburn loop".

Here are some pics I found on NErail (not mine)

Yeah, check out Eames St. Here's a more recent picture I took last winter (love the B&M blue in the linked picture though):

And here's a Trackmobile thingy pushing some cement hoppers around:

The Downeaster came through too:

On the whole, not a bad place to railfan (at least in my limited experience).

On another note, I noticed that there were 16 or so tank cars on DOBO tonight, in addition to the usual 12-14 hoppers. Any thoughts on what this might have been?

Its actually quite a normal thing for NHN trains...the cars are propane cars coming empty from the Eastern Propane offload in Rochester at Tri-City.

Cool pics. But guys, I know EXACTLY where the cement plant, I was asking if there was a way to get to the area behind the large cement tower without trespassing, or at least without getting yelled at or arrested :-)
