This morning I caught an NYAR westbound passing Pinelawn. 4 engines (2 MP15ac's leading 2 GP38-2's) and 5 loaded scrap gondolas.
Just now on the grade between Wyandanch and Deer Park the same power lashup heading eastbound with 32 cars. It was an assortment of boxcars, centerbeams, tankers, stone cars and 1 huge BNSF reefer.

It's been discussed at length that every NYA train has at least 2 engines. But is 4 engines totalling 7,000 horses really necessary for a small or a modest number of vars as described?

It's easier to leave the Pineaire power (4 engines) together instead of separating the power and setting it over to another track.

The BNSF reefer could be coming out of DiCarlo foods in Holtsville, NY. The siding was built in 2005 and had a pretty decent derailment recently. The only other place I could think of is maybe a transload car in Elm Trucking off the back track in Pineaire.

Reefers to NYAR only go to two places; Brooklyn Terminal Market/ Circus Fruits & DiCarlo Foods.

268/301(?) picking up and dropping off trash cars in Blissvile around noon today. Didn't realize NY&A had any trains on sundays.

RS-20 (yard & secondary territory job) & RS-70 (road job from Pineaire) run Sundays.

Take any photos?

Does the RS 70 work the mainline east of KO on Sundays? If so what time do they leave Pineaire and do they ever go to Calverton or Riverhead on this run on Sunday? Is it a daytime run Sunday morning or is it a nocturnal move on Sunday night?

The RS-70 is a daytime Pineaire-based job that basically supplements the RS-50 & RS-60, mainly the 60. The job is there to do whatever needs to be done out of Pineaire to alleviate the 60. They usually run round trip to Fresh Pond on Sundays though.

At 12:39 PM this afternoon a Fresh Pond bound train went by New Hyde Park with MP15AC #151 and GP38-2 #268 pulling a box car and empty Lumber cars from Kleet.

NYA switched Kleet Lumber in Huntington this morning around 1140- the 270 on the west end, leading, with a UP boxcar (SP reporting marks....hmmm) and three center beam flatcars, with the 268 trailing on the east end.
