In a booklet I recently got from URHS, there is an Easter Bunny train going from Glen Rock Boro Hall on the BCL. Strange place to start a trip. Does anyone know what equipment will be used, or WHERE ON EARTH THIS TRAIN IS GOING???!!!!!!

Easter Bunny trains

The Volunteer Railroaders Association will do their very popular Easter Bunny Train Ride this year on Saturday March 26th 2005. This is the day before Easter. Departures will be from the New Jersey Transit Glen Rock Boro Hall train station (Bergen Line) located at Harding Plaza, between Maple Avenue and Rock Road. MapQuest map to station Tentative departure times are 10:30 am, 12:30 and 2:30 pm, subject to change by NJ Transit.
During the one hour and 40 minute ride the Easter Bunny will hop through the train and visit each child and give them a special gift from his basket. In addition each child can have his or her picture taken with the bunny so they can always remember their ride, so bring your cameras.
So why not gather up the kids and Grandparents and join the VRA and the Easter Bunny on these fun train rides. You will not only have a great time with your family you will also be helping to preserve history for generations to come to enjoy. Tickets for these trains usually sell out quickly so don't delay call or order them on-line today.

Tickets: Children under 12 are $6,
everyone else $12

Hawthorne train station: These trips are being run to help raise funds to restore, preserve and move the historic NYS&W Hawthorne train station. This little train station has been sitting on the corner of Diamond Bridge and Royal Avenues in Hawthorne for over 100 years and is a fixture in the middle of town. Over the last 20 years, as trucks got higher, the buildings roof has been hit many times and it is beginning to take its toll. The VRA hopes to move the building about 50 feet north, away from the corner and away from the turning trucks. As an added benefit this move will open up the corner for better visibility for pedestrians and motor vehicles alike. After the move is made the VRA is planning to turn the area where the station once stood into a public plaza complete with benches, flowers, shrubs and maybe even a garden railroad.

The train is starting in rutherford and is being carried out by the NYS&W. It makes a stop in Glen Rock to pick up other passengers who didn't want to make the trip down to Rutherford.
