Travel Town in Los Angeles was originally intended as a playground, and many local railroads donated engines to be climbed on. In the last decade or so, Travel Town has been making the transition into becoming a museum. Thought I'd share some shots from there.

We start in 1998. Here's the Los Angeles MTA Blimp in the actual LAMTA paint and logos.

One of my favorite little engines, a Southern Pacific home built 0-6-0. Wonder if this unit knows its birthplace in Sacramento was just saved to become a railroad museum.

The Pacific Eletric steeplcab that was built out of two steam engines' tenders.

The Sharp & Fellows Prarie.

The Santa Fe Consolidation.

Jumping ahed to 2000, the Wester Pacific Consildation.

And now, a 2002 shot of the 143 year old Stockton Terminal 4-4-0 American Type.

The California Western RS12, which I'm guessing is the only Baldwin diesel in LA county. (Any others?)

The speeder. I'm curious if anyone can tell me where this came from, how old it is, and who built it?

The train shed. This is really a marvelous addition to the museum/park.

The EMC Model 148, also a rare bird.

The Sharp & Fellows Prarie again in new paint.

The LAMTA Blimp again in new paint.

The stub switch.

Thanks for looking. Corrections are welcome.

Brought back some memories. How is the modell RR layout doing ? Last time I saw the N gauge layout it was becoming quite large. Then I read that it had been vandalized. At one time they had some Korean War jet fighters on display as well. Glad to hear that it is still going strong. As I remember it, Travel Town is just down the road from the Los Angeles Live Steamers club. They have some of Walt Disney's collection there.

I hadn't heard about the vanadlism, but the last time I was there, the N gauge layout was going strong. Hope that was post incident.

They are right next to LA Live Steamers, which is always a fun ride.

Wow, that train shed is great. It's also great to see a blimp in LAMTA and a Pacific Electric steeple cab were saved! Better than going to scrap! Nice to know the LAMTA paint lasted for a little while, but PE paint is even better. Thanks for sharing!

Those are great shots... thanks for tracking those down. Very cool to see what that old gal looked like back in her working days. When my kids were younger seems we were at Travel Town all the time. Don't really get there much anymore.
