Back in October 1989, before the massive cuts to VIA Rail on the following January 15th fo 1990, I had a nice conversation with a nice older gentleman who was part of this group in the station at Truro, N.S., before my catching the "Liners" to Sydney on Capre Breton Island. He may have been getting signatures for a petition protesting the routes and trains being done away with.
Does this Canadian pro-passenger rail group exist today? Outside of the ONR folks and friends protesting the loss of the Northlander, I haven't heard much (if any) public outcry from everyday citizens in Canada (pardon my ignorance, if there has been).
