Summer Trackwork

It's summer and that means one thing on the DL, trackwork season. Taken from the GVT yahoo group: Have learned that several maintenance projects will soon be
undertaken by the D-L:

1. 3000 ties between MP-101-96

2. 2900 ties between MP 78-74 (Water Gap)

3. 2900 feet of rail change-out MP 74-78

4. 4 miles of re-surfacing MP 74-78

5. Crossing replacement & surface N Courtland St, E. Stroudsburg

6. Ties at mall siding Steamtown

7. Double end Tobyhanna Siding & rehab old west leg of wye for
propane storage.

This will mean late-running PT-98's and 97's

Does the GVT have their own MOW forces to do the work, or do they hire a contractor?? Thanks

They use both - depends on the size and the scope of the work being done.

i've seen GVT use their own crews on the Falls Road but, as Les said, that may depend on the scope and location of the work.
