During another short work day chase along the Searsport Branch, followed a southbound to the horseshoe along Route 1/3 right before Station Road. The run was yesterday, a Wednesday no less. Around the corner came 8583LHF with a solid string of the old red BAR boxcars heading for the yard at the port. Eleven cars to be exact. Two guys on the ground were waiting for the train to come in. It's the second time I've tagged a dedicated move of boxes in the past six months. Didn't notice if the cars were full or not. Is something being shipped out in bulk from the docks?

Can't answer your question, but seeing a Dash 8 running LHF is pretty cool. :-)

Don't know about recent events, but the BAR used to store empty box cars in the Searsport yard.....

Oh there are plenty of stored cars down there, but not that kind. These red BAR ones seem pretty hot when they come in, like they're being sent out soon after arrival. There had been a long string stored north of the last crossing in Hermon by LMS for months. Also plenty right in the MMA yards at NMJ. Perhaps someone is leasing or buying them little blocks at a time. Regardless of the reasoning, cool to see solid boxcar trains down here!
