If there's a more suitable forum for this, please move it. A heavyweight open-platform observation car lettered SP 142 SANTA BARBARA is plinthed at the Santa Barbara station. The Amtrak people there told me it has only been there a few months and there may be plans to place it on exhibit, but they had no information about who owns it or what is planned for it. Is there any chance that it is the car formerly operated on the Del Monte, Nos. 77 and 78? And does anyone have any further information?
