  • So what do we call the railroad anyway?

According to timetables, the name of the railroad is Springfield Terminal. All the labor agreements are with Springfield Terminal. A few engines were actually lettered Springfield Terminal, but I think they are off the roster now.

HOWEVER. If you're talking about a colloquial name, then its whatever you like best. Down here, the CP Rail train that runs on Metro-North is referred to by everyone as "the D&H."

Call it Guilford, Pan-Am, Boston & Maine, it doesn't matter. They are all correct.

Largely no one outside of New England has remarked about the supposed name change to Pan Am Railways because no one takes the company seriously at all.

an interesting note, when filling out daily time slips, we put either B&M or MEC on the division line, depending on where we performed our work.

Also, many employees still have "prior rights" on the B&M or Maine Central. If you dig really deep, you will find that the Stony Brook RR and the Fitchburg RR are still in some company documents.

What was the Stony Brook railroad? Where was it?

Between N.Chelmsford MA and Willows, near Ayer MA. It is now part of Springfield Terminal's Freight Main Line. I was told that B&M Corp. still makes lease payments to the heirs of the original owners.

Whatever you call it, you have only two months to get together your annual pre and post New Years postings and rumors about a GRS/Pan Am Sale. THIS COULD BE THE YEAR, OH, WAIT THAT WAS LAST YEAR......

I say January 25th, 2007, to CN!

What's your guess?

April 1, 2007, to either CN, CP, BNSF, UP, CSX, NS, or KCS. Or possibly Belfast & Moosehead Lake (gotta have a wildcard in there...)
