Whenever I take pics on the T I try to be quick and subtle. I was taking some pictures at Broadway when someone walked up to me and told me that it was illegal. It wasn’t a cop but someone who knew a lot of people at the T.....interesting fellow...to say the least. Well, there's your problem right ...

3676 is a "new victim" - it was in ratty-looking original green/white when I noted seeing it a couple of weeks ago. 3689 was one of the Bacardi cars, now apparently re-wrapped for Adidas. The other Bacardi cars are/were 3654, 3659, 3694, and 3695. 3667 is/was the Clorox car. Of the 3650-36...

The T seems to be in the middle of a transition to some new ad wrap clients. A couple of weeks ago there were five Bacardi wraps, one Clorox, one Magical Fruit, and maybe a couple of others. Recently at least two Coors Light wraps have showed up (including one that replaced the Magical Fruit ad on 3...

Alan - the drawbridge on the Lechmere Viaduct is no longer operable and is not needed... nothing that big goes through there anymore, although when the viaduct was first built there were some surprisingly tall-masted vessels that had to get through there from time to time. The drawbridge on the stre...

I think the reference here is to Silver Line Phase III, that absurdly expensive tunnel linking the Washington Street "replacement" service to the South Boston Piers Transitway. Nowhere is it stated that the Washington Street Silver Line must be linked to South Boston and the airport, but t...

3866 has joined the accepted Type 8 fleet... that makes 34.

just a clarification...if you don't plan to exit any stations (go past the faregates), you can do as much riding as you want for a one-way trip ($1.20 if you're returning to the same station you started from). Be aware that the fare collection system is aware of the time and station at which you en...

Back on Tues, Mar 16, just after 4 PM, I picked up 3805 as the third of a 3-car consist at Goverment Centre till Park Street. ASA was fine and ride was smooth, happy to report.
Just missed me, Robert. I got on the lead car of that train at Park Street and rode to Copley!

Type 8s went to Lechmere only until they began to exhibit an annoying tendency to derail on anything less than near-perfect track. The track to Lechmere is far from perfect - in fact, it's probably the worst track on the entire Green Line - and you do not want to derail something on the el or the vi...

Type 8s could run on any line as long as those runs were turned at Government Center instead of Lechmere. That's what the T did whenever they ran a Type 8 on the Riverside line before the derailments started happening. Of course, doing that reduced the amount of scheduled service between GC and Lech...

Saw my first 3-car Type 8 train this afternoon... 3802-3803-3805 on the Boston College line.

As an "inbound" destination of one of the existing lines, it probably wouldn't have a route letter assigned. Just as Lechmere doesn't. But if it is going to be operated as a separate route... i.e. West Medford - Government Center (Brattle Loop), it probably would be given a letter. F would...

Type 8s

All of the Type 8s I've seen in the past week or two have been on the BC line (or as it says on the LCD destination signs BOSTON CLGE).

According to NETransit, there are 33 accepted, 29 in service. Soon they will outnumber the Boeings!
