That section of track has been out of whack for some time. Trains entering the station at normal speed sway enough to sometimes hit the side of the platform.

I may be naive but why can’t they use the yard leads from Cabot to the bumper track just before JFK? These tracks & signals were updated during the malfunction junction project. There must be many hours when there is no activity. Repaired trains use tracks along the way for testing.

Back in the mid 80's, the Red Line would short turn a train from Quincy Center to Park Street. Lack of a pocket track outside Park Street caused delays in Southbound service.

I remember it had lighting, black ceilings & walls similar to the ceilings in Government Center.
