Just caught this story

"The city manager of rochelle is immediately closing the railroad park
and gift shop without notice. What a bone head decision this is. Pass
along to all you know to email the city manager at the address below.

If you (like us) think this is a rotten deal, we urge you to call,
email or write to the City Manager of Rochelle to voice your thoughts.
Just another ETTS for railfans, "rumor has it" they want to make the
petting zoo better for kids and not fans. You can contact city at below
info."

I believe this is a half-truth, only the gift shop is closing. Roger

The city of Rochelle is not closing the railroad park. They are indeed only closing the gift shop down. According to trains.com, the city is trying to make improvements such as more parking and a new gift shop that may possible sell food and drinks. I also heard on trains.com that the city bought more property and they are planning on making more parking. The pavilion will remain open as well.
