This is what I heard through the grapevine,

Bachmann Group bought the main (super) factory in China that a lot of the other manufacturers (Athearn, Atlas, etc,) also uses for parts & assy. This in turn has the many in the industry scrambling to find smaller factories in China to get their product produce. The factories that are found which can do the work, trains are on the low end of the totem pole for production compared to the 1000's of Barbies and Hot Wheels that toy factories can push out.

Rapido has said multiple times that everything went onto the back burner until the Canadian was shipped. Best bet would be to email them directly for an ETA, as they are very good about responding. BTW, they appear to have exclusive use of their Chinese factory, so Rapido's problems are uniquely theirs.

Have you tried asking Rapido instead of us? I searched for "long island rail road rapido" and this popped right up:

Their web site is saying 2013. The folks at Rapido are really good at communicating with their customers if you reach out to them (even if you poke around their web site for a little bit).

Right, and if you read some of their news releases, they mentioned the need to finish the Canadian project, and so on. Rapido is very forthcoming if you just send them an email or pick up the phone. Really.
